The intention of this calculator is to offer users a simple and interactive way to explore future scenarios, in particular the trade-offs and interdependencies between different options for decarbonising. One of the examples in the tool is based on the deep decarbonisation pathway for Australia, developed as part of the UN SDSN Deep Decarbonisation Pathways Project. This scenario is not the only option available to Australia for decarbonisation.

No other scenario except the ClimateWorks/ANU scenarios have been costed. Levels for each lever have been chosen based on a spectrum between business-as-usual and ambitious but plausible potentials.
The Transport Fuel Diversity outputs depict the effect of scenario options based on current oil/fuel imports and refinery outputs as drawn respectively from Australian Petroleum Statistics published by the Australian Government and AIP Downstream Reports published by the Australian Institute of Petroleum. No attempt has been made to forecast future indigenous oil supplies or refinery capacity.
